Book CoverSeasons of the Grizzly - In Knight Inlet - Hard Cover Book

This is the story of the struggle for life of the salmon, the bears, the birds and the forest around Glendale Cove in Knight Inlet, B.C.

These are reflections through writing and photography, by one of the people working as a tour guide, interpreting the events unfolding along the river and estuary as the seasons progress.

Witness one of the world’s greatest migrations as the Pacific salmon struggle to complete their life’s mission, only to die within a few days of propagating their species. Imagine the odor of rotting salmon wafting over the country side, beckoning the hordes of predators to the annual feast. Listen to the cacophony of sounds as the gulls, crows, ravens, ducks and eagles squabble over the salmon scraps.

Get to know some of the dozens of grizzly and black bears who visit the cove, eating sedge, inter-tidal life and berries as they await the return of the salmon

Many of the tourists who visit this annual spectacle are emotionally drained and moved to tears as they visit one of the worlds largest, most feared and misunderstood carnivores up close and personal

This story brings the grizzly bear and the salmon to life and understanding through personal observation and compassion for two of earths most threatened and magnificent creatures.
